Recklessness Revealed!

It seems appropriate to focus my premier blog entry on this site on what other than the theme of “recklessness”.  You know there’s enough reckless shit going on in this city to write a damn novel.  For now, I’ll just have to focus on what’s the most reckless thing going on in NYC right now?

That’s easy.

No it’s not street violence, or the swine flu.  It’s definitely not the War on Terror (although, that is pretty damn reckless) or NYC dating & sex culture.  Nah.  Hands down, the most reckless shit going on in the streets nowadays is shopping.  Don’t people know we’re in a damn recession?  It’s fucking ridiculous.

Now, maybe you’re confused. You may be thinking “shopping is a reckless act?”  Let’s break down what exactly it means to be reckless.  The Wiktionary definition of reckless is as follows.

RECKLESS:

  • careless or heedless; headstrong or rash
  • indifferent to danger or the consequence
I don’t know what could be more reckless than fools out there shopping, buying unnecessary shit (i.e. Luis Vuitton head scarves) in this economy.

I don’t even understand. I went to the mall the other day, on a Tuesday morning at 10am, just to pick up a quick gift for mother’s day and the mall was packed.  Don’t people have jobs?  Oh actually, I guess that’s the problem!  But what I’d really like to know is with what money are people shopping with? I swear dudes must be slurpin’ Ramon noodle everyday, all-the-while rocking their Gucci sneakers from Soho.  Ain’t that a bitch?

But don’t laugh too fast.  You know, some of ya’ll are going to the Paparazzi Party on Saturday night and plan on buying ridiculously expensive bottles of shit you could’ve bought at the corner liquor store for $20, all so that you can Facebook tag yourself “raining grey goose on bitches”  LMAO.

But I guess when the economy is falling apart, what better way to forget about it than engaging in some Reckless partying?  I know after a few shots of Ciroc, I feel better about my economic situation.

Which is why you can count on seeing me at Two Steps Down on Saturday night, blaming the Goose for the new Manolos I bought on credit last week. Oops!  I guess that’s why they call me Reckless Rach.

Do you know what I was just thinking about? A Reckless Moment In Time.

Feb. 1, 2004 where were you when Janet's nipple slipped out hummmmmmm.  A Reckless Moment in time. I know where I was glued to the screen for the whole game watching the New England Patriots whip up on some Panther Ass.. The game was kinda wack until Ms. Jackson and Justin Timberlake did the damn thing.
You know what I mean! The infamous nipple slip yes sirrrrr... Then Justin gonna act like he didn't know that it was going to happen like that. Come on, Janet put on her shiny platinum, diamond incrusted sun nipple pendent just for that moment for America to see.  Then the networks wanna get mad like it wasn't quality T.V. You gotta be kidding me on that one, I enjoyed every second of it and how she just let it hang. Giving true meaning  to let your titty hang!

Thank You Janet
Justin your a herb!

This Just In Anarkist Kryst has Landed! RECKLESS!!!

Anarkist Kryst with a name like that, you'd better be the real deal. Fortunately, that's exactly what he is. Whether it's freestyling on stage or if you're pumping his joints while you're driving, you can expect to be blown away by the AK. Instant classic, hardcore, head nodding New York underground banging beats set the brutal backdrop for nothing less than a tactical lyrical assault on your senses.

While hip hop has recently been limited to the topics of cars, clothes, hoes,
money and drugs, you will find yourself hard pressed to find these references in Anarkist Kryst's music. In fact, you may be forced to take cover as the AK takes lethal aim at stupidity, greed, reality TV, religion, the FDA, the Federal Reserve, the IRS, the hip hop industry, bad parenting, the war on drugs, the war on terror, STD's obesity, corporate corruption and just plain what the AK refers to as "Niggerizms".

The amazing part is, of course, that with his vicious wit, and bloodthirsty sarcasm, Anarkist Kryst is able to make you laugh even while he's killing you.
If there is any doubt, this is the MC that wrote the song "Don't Think It Can't Happen", which mentioned the death of Big Pun and the terrorist
attack on the World Trade Center more than a year before they happened.
This is the same MC who predicted the war in Iraq early in 2001 with the
song "Book of Revelations". How about Monopoly Money? Written two years before the worst economic crisis in decades.

So the questions is, "why haven't I ever heard this guy"? Good question.

Reckless Entertainment is proud to announce we have now acquired the leash of the monster known as Anarkist Kryst and we are about to let the
beast out of his cage.

Here is a sample of the madness.

D*Centt Has Arrived !!!

A Ghetto Metal band has been added to the Reckless Takeover Tour!!!

D*Cent, a Brooklyn-based

band formed in 2001, combines hip-hop and heavy metal to create a unique genre they call "Ghetto Metal." The creation of this dynamic quartet was the brainchild of D*Cent's guitarist, Groove, who met Dzier, D*Cent's drummer, at work. Groove's brother-in-law, Clavo, became the group's bassist. Almost complete, D*Cent auditioned for a vocalist. They finally found Hangman, the lead singer with a microphone tattoo on his arm. In 2006, after five years of playing in a host of clubs throughout NYC, D*Cent needed a new bassist. Luckily, they found Jay Jay, a bassist who complimented D*Cent's sound perfectly.

Genuine hip-hop and metal fuse together to produce a sound and genre that is unique and authentic. Dzier's masterful drumming showcases astounding hip-hop bass lines that co-exist perfectly with Groove's stunning string riffs while Jay Jay produces mesmerizing bass chords. Finally, Hangman's vocals and lyrics produce a viscerally provocative aesthetic that is dynamic and heartfelt.

D*Cent has appeared on NYC's grittiest rock scenes as well as on the underground hip-hop scene. They have appeared at ACME underground, Rock Star Bar, Crash Mansion, La Kueva, Black National Theatre, Knitting Factory, Brooklyn Music Terminal and the world renoun CBGB's, along with a host of other renowned music scenes.

D*Cent's musical influences range from Black Sabbath and Led Zepplin to The Notorious B.I.G. and the Wu-Tang Clan. Their masterful fusion of hip-hop with metal garners massive fanfare from true hip-hop enthusiasts and heavy metal fans alike. Their unique vision and dynamic sound will ensure their longevity and will get them mentioned in the same breath as music's rock legends and greats.

The Reckless Tour Continues!! @ Purchase College

Reckless Tour Sat. Feb 7th, 2009

The Band known as D*Centt worked their voodoo Bushwick Ghetto Metal Magic on an amazed Purchase College audience.  Second to last before the headlining band Game Rebellion, who isn't a slouch by any stretch of the imagination.
D*Centt was a very tough act to follow, with a blazing set featuring new bangers and classic gems.  Understanding the importance of Black History Month, they played a special tribute for Notorious' (Ten Crack Commandments).

It was an intament show with an audience of about 75 people, which
didn't include the great bands that hit the stage prior.  Yet, D*Centt still lifted the energy of the show to amazing levels, and honestly it felt like you were looking at the future of Rock & Hip Hop fused together like no other before.  The passion and moving lyrics of the lead singer Hangman had the audience in awh.  Especially with the songs "From Inside" and "Waste of Time".
